The introduction of the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) Directive on the competitiveness of industry is fast becoming a major issue as the 2007 implementation deadline approaches. At an Enterprise DG workshop in May 2002, experts reviewed possible criteria for measuring the impact of Best Available Techniques (BAT) on the competitiveness of various industrial sectors, and the tools available to help permitting authorities make appropriate judgments. |
