More people support EU enlargement and the idea of a European constitution, according to the latest Eurobarometer survey. Forty-nine percent of those polled say they favour enlargement, compared to 39% opposed - overall support for enlargement has increased by 3 percentage points since the last Eurobarometer poll, which was taken last autumn before the accession of Bulgaria and Romania. Sixty-six percent of Europeans also endorse the idea of an EU constitution, up from 63% last autumn. France and the Netherlands, where the constitution was rejected in referenda two years ago, support the idea of an EU constitution by 68% and 55%. The biggest swings in support were in Spain, where support for the constitution increased by 13 percentage points, and in Greece, where it decreased by 11 percentage points.
