According to a report by Christian Dustmann and Albrecht Glitz, 'Immigration, jobs and wages: Theory, evidence and opinion', published on 13 May 2005, a rise in immigration leads to economic expansion and not to job losses. The study is an extensive review of Europe's migration experience since the Second World War, supported by the authors' new research, and looks into the effect of immigration on wages and employment in Europe, concluding that even in the simplest economy, migrant workers are absorbed and new jobs created. The study was financed by the (UK) Economic and Social Research Council, and received support from the Anglo-German Foundation. |
