Romania's incoming president Klaus Iohannis said on 18 November 2014 his party might try to topple Prime Minister Victor Ponta's government in 2015.

While a general election was not scheduled before 2016, Mr Iohannis made it clear as leader of the liberal NLP that his party could try to shorten Mr Ponta's mandate.
