Summary:Report published by the European Commission on 21 February 2023, concerning the implementation of Regulation (EU) No 1379/2013 on the common organisation of the markets in fishery and aquaculture products (CMO Regulation). Further information:TheĀ Common Organisation of the Markets (CMO) in fisheries and aquaculture products exists since 1970. It is the oldest pillar of theĀ Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). The CMO is subject to Regulation (EU) No 1379/2013 and Regulation (EU) No 1380/2013. The CMO was reformed together with the CFP in 2013 and seeks to achieve the objectives of the CFP. The reform implied a series of changes for the Member States and the sector. The European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) and the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) support policy implementation. The CMO comprises five action areas:
The CMO Regulation has been amended three times since its adoption, the last of which in 2020. This report describes the implementation and results of the CMO Regulation, and it follows that Regulation's structure. It was published by the European Commission on 21 February 2023 as part of a legislative package focusing on the sustainability and resilience of the EU's fisheries and aquaculture sector. |
