How to improve the role of young farmers in the European agricultural economy?

This study analyses the situation of the EU young farmers in relation to their share of total agricultural holders and land use as well as their participation in national and European support programmes. In many regions, the overall synergy between preferred priority policy objectives and age structures in agriculture is weak. The study also reviewed the obstacles facing both potential entrants into agriculture sector and young farmers, especially those starting-up in business, and proposed possible solutions for overcoming those barriers.
