The EU-27 can force Britain’s politicians to acknowledge Brexit’s trade-offs, by offering the British four options from which it must choose.

The four options would be:

1) for Britain to remain in the EU on pre-renegotiation terms;
2) for Britain to join the European Economic Area;
3) for Britain to leave the single market and negotiate a trade agreement;
4) for Britain to leave the EU with no trade deal and no transitional arrangement in place.
