Harmonization of criminal law in the EU: A special focus on the US judicial system

Chapter one provides an overview of the pre-Lisbon period and the new possibilities for harmonisation. Chapter two describes the United States federal system and criminal law. Chapter three considers whether the US federal system could inspire the EU. The annex provides a rough outline of the organisation of federal law enforcement and federal judiciary in the United States (with a special focus on criminal law jurisdiction).
