Hack list faces the chop

Brussels prides itself on having the largest multinational press corps in the world. With more than 800 journalists accredited to the EU institutions, it took the title from Washington a year or so ago. But how much longer will it remain number one?

Daunted by the logistics of coping with such numbers, the Commission is now going through the list with a fine tooth-comb.

Journalists whose contacts with the institutions are, at best, few and far between and those whose interests lie more in the lobbying than reporting field may find themselves disappearing from the accredited list.
