A gunman killed a party worker of the Law and Justice Party (PiS) on the 19 October 2010, and said he wanted to murder Poland’s rightwing opposition leader, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, in a sign of the growing brutality of the country’s politics.

Later, Jaroslaw Kaczynski said that the moral and political responsibility for the death rested with the government.
