Summary: Communication presented on 29 May 2019 by the European Commission on the interaction of free flow of non-personal data with the EU data protection rules. Further information: As part of the Digital Single Market (DSM) strategy, Regulation (EU) 2018/1807 on the free flow of non-personal data allows data to be stored and processed everywhere in the European Union (EU) without unjustified restrictions. The guidance published by the European Commission in May 2019 aims at helping users understand the interaction between these rules and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), particularly when datasets are composed of both personal and non-personal data. |
