Green focus in Merkel’s policy package

After a two day mid-term meeting of the Grand Coalition government, 24-25 August 2007, the German government unveiled a hefty, and potentially costly, programme of measures for the second half of its term, 'Upswing, Participation, Prosperity', putting the emphasis on the environment and broadening the social windfall of the economic recovery.
