The UK Government announced on 10.4.00 details of a revised set of Assisted Area proposals designed to boost regional prosperity and create new employment opportunities. The new Assisted Areas, where regional aid may be granted under European Community law, represent the final part of a comprehensive package of European support for some of the neediest areas of Britain. They will now be subject to a three week consultation period which ends on 2 May 2000. |
