EUObserver reported that Google had removed over 70,000 Internet links, amid accusations it was trying to promote critical reactions to the EU court ruling by targeting major media outlets.

The US firm said on the 3 July 2014 it was getting around 1,000 'right to be forgotten' requests a day.

Google announced on the 10 July 2014 that it was setting up an Advisory Council to Google on the Right to be Forgotten.

The Council would invite contributions from government, business, media, academia, the technology sector, data protection organisations and other organisations with a particular interest in the area, to surface and discuss the challenging issues at the intersection of the right to know and the right to privacy.
