Date: 19/06/1997 Dutch Transport Minister Anne-Marie Jorritsma started a trend when she entertained her ministerial colleagues with a Dutch male voice choir at a recent meeting. This week, Robert Coleman, Director-General for transport (DGVII), went one better, despatching a team of songsters assembled from his own department to Luxembourg by minibus. EU transport ministers were entertained with a well-known English sea shanty at dinner on the first night - although the UK's Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott, who worked aboard ship long ago, was not tempted to join in. Coleman's choristers have no group name, apparently, but the Spice Boys has been suggested. |
