Getting over the summer break

We are still waiting for your entries to the 'Spot-the-Commissioner' on holiday competition launched in our 1 August edition.

Perhaps we would have more success in the light of events if we had launched a 'Knobble-the-Commissioner' competition.

First victim was Competition Commissioner Karel Van Miert, who is nursing a broken arm after falling out of a plum tree in his garden while harvesting the fruit.

Meanwhile, Nico Wegter, spokesman for Foreign Affairs Commissioner Hans van den Broek, is in plaster after breaking his ankle walking in Austria. “Bad shoes” were the culprit, but Nico is back in action after ten days in hospital recovering from an operation on his injured ankle.
