Germany plans first ever cut to green energy levy

The German government announced in October 2014 its intention to cut the renewable energy surcharge for the first time ever in 2015, raising the prospect of lower energy prices for households.

However, such move was criticised by the Green Party, which had sought for deeper cuts.
