In an interview with the German newspaper Bild on 2 April 2015, German interior minister Thomas de Maiziere suggested changes to the Schegen agreement by introducing systematic checkings on air passengers' ID cards when entering the aircraft.

Mr de Maziere was confronted with a gap of passengers information following a Germanwings plane crash that killed 150 passengers in March 2015.
