Several media sources reported on 9 February 2015 that Germany had exported more than ever before in 2014, despite international crises, sanctions against Russia and sluggish global growth.

The foreign trade balance showed a surplus of 217.0 billion euros in 2014, which was the highest value ever recorded. It clearly exceeded the previous peak of 195.3 billion euros achieved in 2007. In 2013, the surplus of the foreign trade balance was 195.0 billion euros.
