A presentation was made to the Committee, on 19 May 2005, by the Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dermot Ahern, on the EU General Affairs and External Relations Council, which was due to take place in Brussels on 23-24 May 2005. As this meeting was also attended by European Defence Ministers, who exchanged views on recent developments in European security and defence policy, the Irish Minister for Defence, Willie O'Dea, spoke in more detail on these issues. |
