The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), in 2011-12, conducted an EU-wide survey on violence against women. This was the first survey of its kind to randomly sample and interview over 40,000 women across the 27 EU Member States and Croatia.

To mark International Women’s Day on 8 March 2013, FRA announced that, in early 2014, it would launch the main result report from the above survey.
