Future Brussels commissioner defends position

Article reports on the appearance on 28 September 2004 before Members of the European Parliament by Neelie Kroes, incoming European Commissioner for Competition. Two weeks of hearings began on 27 September 2004 at which MEPs were able to question each of the incoming European Commissioners appointed by José Manuel Barroso, the next President of the European Commission.
