Article reports that Rachida Dati, France’s glamorous but controversial Justice Minister, will leave the government later in 2009 after falling out of favour with President Nicolas Sarkozy. Mr Sarkozy confirmed January 2009 that Ms Dati would stand down and fight the European Parliament election in June 2009 for the governing centre-right UMP party. She was guaranteed a winnable seat by the president.
