France seeks to extend state of emergency to mid-July

The new French Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said on the 10 December 2016 that the French government would propose extending the country’s state of emergency until 15 July 2017 due to the presidential and parliament elections in the first half of 2017. Parliament would vote on the government proposal in the following week.
