On 9 August 2012 the French police started the expulsion of Roma illigal settlers from France’s northern city of Lille despite President Francois Hollande's promise to end such practice. The French government reported on the 23 August 2012 that the number of jobs available to Roma people would be extended and an employer fee for Bulgarian and Romanian nationals scrapped, but that illegal camps would continue to be shut down. |
