The European Commission issued France with a final warning on 27 June 2002 that it was in breach of European Union law by maintaining its restrictions on UK beef. France has 15 days in which to lift the ban. If it does not it is likely that the Commission will refer the matter back to the European Court of Justice and ask it to impose a daily fine on France until the ban is lifted. |
