French President Jacques Chirac and Prime Minister Lionel Jospin and German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder have sought to repair relations between their two countries, which had soured after the Nice summit in December. At their gathering this week in Alsace, France, they pledged to maintain the ties that have long driven the European Union. “We had a very honest and thorough-going discussion about what we've done wrong but more so about what we've done right and will continue to do right,” said Schröder. |
