Fortress Europe: The UK should drop its asylum veto

Editorial considers that if the UK dropped its asylum veto, as it will be asked to do at the European Council Summit in Nice on 7-9 December 2000, and joined in the common approach, other European states would have to pay more attention to suspicious lorries heading towards the UK, and the UK would have access to the Schengen database on who has been refused entry by other states.
