Date: 10/05/01 A FORMER US assistant secretary of state has joined the ranks of corporate lobbyists operating in Brussels. Financial public relations group Brunswick has appointed James Rubin, former spokesman and policy advisor to Madeleine Albright's State Department, as a London-based partner - a job the firm says will bring him frequently to Brussels. "Given the importance of the EU-US relationship to our clients, it's a natural step," said Richard Jacques, head of Brunswick's operation here.
