Hungary's economy ministry submitted in November 2014 to the national parliament a draft bill stating that from 2018 retail chains with annual turnover above €163 million should close if they went for two years without turning a profit in the country. Multinational supermarkets showed their discontent over the measure, which followed another which increased the inspection costs. French supermarket chain Auchan said the measure would discriminate against foreign firms, and Britain's Tesco said it was assessing the impact on its business. |
