This publication, which was prepared for the meeting of the ministers of higher education, in Bergen in May 2005, reports on how the organisation of higher education is evolving in the 40 countries signatory to the Bologna Declaration. It assesses progress towards each of the following aims of the Bologna Process: adoption of a two-cycle structure ( Bachelor/Master ), incorporation of doctoral programmes as the third cycle, introduction of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), the provision of the Diploma Supplement and the establishment of a system for higher education quality evaluation. A comparative overview precedes the descriptions relating to each country in turn. Each description is accompanied by a diagram illustrating the structure of higher education in the country concerned in 2004/05, including the main paths, the conditions governing entry to ISCED levels 5 and 6, and the lengths of the various courses. |
