Fischler set to seek farms accord ahead of world trade meeting

Article anticipates that the European Commission is set to announce sweeping reforms of the European Union's Common Agricultural Policy, in an effort to curb its excesses and improve prospects for global trade liberalisation talks. Franz Fischler, European Commissioner for Agriculture and Fisheries, hopes that Member States will agree the proposal in Summer 2003 in time for the World Trade Organisation's ministerial meeting in Cancun in September 2003.
