First Minister Rhodri Morgan pledged to continue Wales’ transformation into a 'global leading light in innovation' following the announcement that Wales has scooped a top European award for regional development in Brussels on 25th February 2008. OpTIC Technium in St Asaph – an innovation centre at the heart of a dynamic cluster of companies in North Wales - won a prestigious RegioStars Award 2008 for its cutting-edge research and development (R&D) within the Opto-electronics industry.
