Further information: Sauli Niinistö, the incumbent President running for a second term in office without party affilitation, was re-elected with 62.7 percent of the votes, avoiding a second round. It was the first time such situation took place since the country switched to a two-round system based on popular vote in 1994. The next most popular candidate was Pekka Haavisto, who received 12.4 percent of the votes. None of the other candidates secured more than 10 percent. The term is from 1 March 2018 to 1 March 2024.
