The surge in anti-European sentiment before the election in Finland in 2011 may have quietened down in 2012, but promises by the Social Democrat party to limit the country’s exposure to weaker economies were continuing to have a big impact on how the eurozone tackles its sovereign debt crisis.

With pro-European and more anti-European parties in a six party coalition, the government had to take a very cautious line. In opinion pollss 54% of people in Finland though that Finland was too lenient on more troubled eurozone countries in the South.
