Field Hospitals are among the most valuable contributions Member States can make to multinational missions. A vital operational requisite, field hospitals are also incredibly flexible, and can be deployed to a whole range of missions. Relevant improvements in training and equipment will allow this capacity to save more lives in all kind of environments. Current shortfalls in field hospital capacities, both in terms of materials and specialised personnel, demonstrate the need for EU Member States to improve the interoperability of medical resources and pursue common standards for best medical practice. Sixteen Member States agreed to work together, facilitated by the EDA, to build Modular Multinational Medical Units. |
