Fears of house-price inflation from single currency

A paper entitled 'European House Price Volatility and the Macroeconomy: The Implications for European Monetary Union' by Andrew Henley and Bruce Morley of the University of Aberystwyth was presented at the Royal Economic Society's annual conference in St Andrews on 12.7.00. The paper argues that the structure of the housing market in the UK could mean that membership of the single currency would lead to a build up of inflationary pressures.
