Date: 04/02/1999 has recommended that the EU's agricultural support prices and farm subsidies for the 1999/2000 season should remain substantially the same as last year. Other than some technical amendments to the wine, arable crop and seed sectors, the only significant change proposed by the Commission this week is a reduction in the monthly sugar storage refund from €0.38 to €0.33 per 100kg, designed to reflect lower prevailing interest rates. EU agriculture ministers will take a final decision on the farm price proposals in June. |
