Turkish MP Mevlüt Çavuşoglu has been appointed as President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, January 2010. He is the first Turk to hold the post. There has been some concern expressed by representatives from Cyprus, Armenia and the Kurdish community.
