The two-time prime minister of Slovenia, Janez Jansa, was convicted of corruption and sentenced to two years in prison in June 2013. Jansa was accused of soliciting bribes as part of a defence deal. He said the charges were politically motivated and that he would appeal. He was forced from office in March 2013 amid protests over corruption and recession. On the 28 April 2014, a Slovenian higher court upheld the conviction of Mr. Janša. |
