Summary: This Final Report presents the findings and recommendations of the study of “Ex post evaluation of cohesion policy programmes 2000-2006 co-financed by the European Fund for Regional Development (Objective 1 and 2) Work package 5a: Transport”. The main objective of the study was to evaluate the contribution of the European Fund for Regional Development (ERDF) to the development of the EU transport system. This evaluation covered the 25 Member States existing in 2006. 18 Member States that accounted for more than 95% of ERDF resources allocated to transport were considered in more detail. Drawing on the results of these tasks, the report seeks to establish the impact of ERDF resources made available for transport investment in Objective 1 and 2 regions during the 2000-2006 programming period on economic and social cohesion. It also aims to assess the effectiveness and efficiency with which these resources were used, as well as identifying the Community added value and lessons for the future. |
