‘Everybody thinks Europe is a Christian continent’

The article is devoted to the question of religion in the European Union. There are approximately 13 million Muslims, over 1 million Jews and 370 million Christians in the European Union. The three countries applying for the EU membership, Turkey, Albania and Kosovo, are majority Muslim countries. The article emphasizes the complexity of religious issues in the EU in particular the question of religious roots of Europe as well as the problem of islamophobia and its impact on Turkish accession to the EU.
