Evaluation of EC Country Strategy for Ethiopia

The Commission has made important contributions to the development in Ethiopia, despite that the war with Eritrea and the droughts in 2000 and 2002 have severely affected the possibilities for an effective support. The Commission has notably contributed in the area of economic reform, institutional capacity in the transport sector and access to and supply of food. The Commission strategies are judged to be relevant to the needs and priorities of the partner and to the Commission overall objectives, but also to be too ambitious in relation to the available instruments and Delegation staff resources.
