Eurozone needs to ‘share risks’, warns Bank governor

Report of a speech by the Governor of the Bank of England Mark Carney in Dublin on the 28 January 2015.

He warned the current structure of the eurozone put it in an 'odd position'. Sharing a currency without also sharing decisions on taxes and spending did not work.

In his analysis of the speech BBC economics editor Robert Peston said that Mr Carney was in effect saying that Germany ought to do more to support the likes of Italy, Spain and France.
