Economic growth in the eurozone will soften in 2011 before picking up steam in 2012, the European Commission forecast on the 29 November 2010 in its Autumn Economic Forecasts, amid concerns of a widening chasm between Germany’s bright prospects and the continuing struggles of “peripheral” economies such as Ireland, Portugal and Greece.
