Europe’s car industry “can no longer be regarded as a sector of employment growth”

However, in a communication on the industry, the Commission found positive signs for the future. Sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles have slowly recovered since the slump of 1993 and huge gains have been made in both productivity and product quality.
