Summary:

The European Commission published on 24September 2024 the results of a Special Eurobarometer measuring EU citizens’ opinion about a range of issues relating to EU energy policy.

Further information:

The survey shows that the citizens of the European Union (EU) support the energy policy pursued by the EU over the previous years. When asked what a European energy policy means to them, a majority of EU respondents prioritise ensuring affordable energy prices for consumers and this ranks in the top three in 25 Member States.

Looking ahead, they express their strong backing for more EU-wide coordination, and even more efforts at EU and national level to make energy prices more affordable. A large majority of respondents say the European Union should have a stronger coordination role on energy matters, depending on different circumstances.
