The vast majority of jobs in the EU do not demand high levels of physical energy and most work is increasingly sedentary. Taking advantage of opportunities to engage in sport and physical activity during the working day improves employees' health and productivity and contributes to an active, thriving society. Business organisations could also benefit from supporting employees to get moving by improving access, opportunities and incentives to #BeActive. In September 2015 the European Commission launched the first ever European Week of Sport. Over 1.500 events were be organised all over Europe and, of course, also in Brussels, where the centre of the activities were 'The Square' at Mont-des-Arts. |
