Greenhouse gas emissions from the European Union fell by 2.5%, despite higher coal consumption and a growing gross domestic product (GDP), according to new estimates published by the the European Environment Agency (EEA) in September 2012. The EEA estimates of EU's total 2011 greenhouse gas emissions are based on publicly available verified EU-ETS emissions, and other national and European sources, available as of mid-July 2012. |
