Book abstract:

Over the last thirty-five years the European Court of Justice has made numerous important judgements in the area of European Union law. This book offers both the student and practitioner a collection of one hundred of these leading cases from the 'classics' such as van Gend en Loos and Costa v ENEL to the less well know but still important cases on anti-dumping and external trade law.

The book is divided into fifteen chapters with each one representing an area of Community law. Within each area the most important cases are covered and each case presentation includes a short and concise summary of the facts, some 'questions for consideration' which provide guidance for the reading of the judgements and either excerpts from the Advocate General's opinion or excerpts from the judgement itself. Judgements on issues relating to many of the leading cases are also discussed helping to understand the development of the Court's case law over time. A clear table of contents at the front of the book provides the user with a quick reference guide to the cases covered under each subject area.

Dr. Frank Emmert is Dean of the Law School at Concordia International University, Estonia.
